I had the pleasure and honor to work with Eirik Halvorsen photographing the wedding of Siri and Rune at the gorgeous Tørvis Hotell in Sogn, Norway. It is amazing that the Tørvis Hotell was built in 1639 and has been a successful destination accommodation ever since. The day was sunny with white puffy clouds and a mild temperature that made for a perfect wedding day. The day started after a delicious cup of coffee with Rune and his brother who, by the way, is very funny. He kept us in stitches all day! After getting ready, we drove to pick up Rune’s father at his family’s summer cottage and then drove to a car wash that happened to be not working. After making a phone call to the owner of the car wash, all was fixed and the Mercedes was sparkling clean. The groom’s brother volunteered for double duty as the limo driver and the best man and did a great job with both. The ceremony was at Dale Church, built in the year 1240. It was one of the most stunning churches that I’ve ever been in and provided a great backdrop to the ceremony. Rune’s father was the officiant and the ceremony was very moving. The background for the portraits could not have been prettier and the love between the couple was easy to see. The reception included Norwegian traditions such as the guests stamping their feet while the couple stood on their chairs to kiss until the clinking of the glasses was finished. Also, toasting was organized by the Toast Master, the bride’s brother, and lasted for a few hours. After the amazing dinner, the dancing began. Near sunset, around 12:30 am on this day, the couple snuck outside for some portraits and were quickly returned to the party. Eirik and I finished our wedding coverage around 3:00 am and the groom enjoyed a cold, delicious Norwegian beer with us. I can’t think of a better way to experience the Norwegian culture than being part of an amazing wedding. Thank you, Eirik, Siri, and Rune for allowing me to be a part of your amazing day.
